Jan Lazar

Originally from Chicago, Jan Lazar received her Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Master of Science in Public Affairs from Northern Illinois University. She received a CFP designation from the College for Financial Planning in Colorado in 1987 as well as broadening her training in other areas, resulting in her having professional and technical designations in several other related areas. She worked for the Illinois Department of Mental Health for six years as a program development professional and administrator, then moved to Michigan where she served as Budget & Management Director for a city of over 130,000 from the mid 70s until the early 90s, when she became a full time consultant.

She has served several times as Interim Executive for local governments while assisting them in recruitment of permanent managers. She has taught at the community college level for more than 20 years in several areas including government, investing, financial planning and has conducted numerous seminars for governmental managers in financial areas and benefit costing and design.
